Outdoor recreation is central to life in the Flathead Valley, but growing use and shifting community needs are placing increasing pressure on our trails and the land managers who care for them. Local partners, community members, and volunteer groups have all recognized the need for a central organization to bring people together, coordinate efforts, and support a more unified approach to trail stewardship.

The Flathead Trails Association was created to fill this role. Today, FTA serves as the region’s collaborative hub—connecting land managers, partner organizations, and volunteers to enhance communication, align priorities, and strengthen the long-term sustainability of our trail network. By working together, we ensure the Flathead’s trails remain well-maintained, accessible, and resilient for everyone who lives, works, and plays here.
