4 fun hikes for the holiday season

It’s the fall season — also known as the falling leaves season, apple pie season and spooky season! If you’re looking to embrace autumn and early winter with some outdoor time, check out some of these hikes for the holiday season!


COLUMBIA MOUNTAIN TRAIL

Location: Flathead National Forest, just outside of Columbia Falls

Length: 11.8 miles out and back

Columbia Mountain Trail leads up to the beginning of the Alpine #7 trail system, joining the ridge line pack trail near the summit of Columbia Mountain. This trail and the Alpine trail offer stunning over looks of the Flathead Valley from various vantage points along the northern portion of the Swan Mountain range.

CEDAR FLATS LOOP

Location: Flathead National Forest, near Columbia Falls
Length: 2.9 miles, loop

Dogs are welcome and can be off leash.

HERRON PARK LOOP

Location: Herron Park, near Kalispell

Length: 7.3 miles


LUPFER TRAIL LOOP

Location: Near Whitefish

Length: 3.7 miles, loop
