Flathead trails Fest celebrates outdoors

Published by The Whitefish Pilot on May 14th 2024

Celebrating the outdoors, the second annual Flathead Trails Fest is set for Sunday, May 19 near Whitefish.

The event, hosted by the Flathead Trails Association, runs from 3-6 p.m. at Haskill Creek Farms, 1202 Voerman Road. Featuring local trail organizations, the day includes live music, free beer, prizes, food trucks, demonstrations, family-friendly activities and volunteer opportunities.

Attendees will have the opportunity to meet 30 plus nonprofit and land agency partners that make up the network of trail planners, builders, fixers, and educators in the Flathead. Come give Smokey Bear a high five, practice shooting bear spray from a test canister, be entered to win prizes from Trails Fest sponsors, and try using a cross-cut saw.

There will be live music by Todd Cowart, food trucks, free beer from Bias and Black Star brewing companies, and Backslope Brewing. There will also be several activity stations including free bike tuning, river rafting safety demo, trail bar taste test station and a kid’s corner.

Raffle tickets will be free for those who attend.

Established in 2019, the Flathead Trails Association is dedicated to preserving and advancing trails and paths in the Flathead Valley. FTA supports trail stewardship organizations across the Flathead and welcomes local and visiting trail users — including hikers, mountain bikers, Nordic skiers, motorized users, equestrians, adaptive recreation enthusiasts, trail runners, and dog walkers.
